Heart Touching Story

There once was a little boy who lived with his mother. They were very poor. The boy was very handsome and extremely smart. As he grew older, he became even more handsome and smarter. However, his mother always remained sad.

Once, the boy asked his mother, “Mother, why are you always sad?” Mother replied, “Son, a fortune teller once told me that whoever has teeth like yours will become very famous.” Then the boy asked, “Will you not like it if I become famous?”

“Oh my son! What kind of mother wouldn’t like it if her son became famous? I’m always sad because I keep thinking that you will forget me and leave me once you become famous.”

Upon hearing this, the boy started to cry. He stood there in front of his mother for a while and then ran out of the house. He picked up a rock from outside and smashed his front two teeth. He started to bleed from his mouth.

His mother ran out and was shocked to see what he had done. She asked, “Son! What did you do?” In reply, the boy held his mother’s hands and said, “Mother, if these teeth cause you pain and make you sad, I don’t want them. They are of no use to me. I don’t want to be famous with these teeth. I want to be famous by serving you, and through your blessings…”
My friends, this boy was none other than the "GREAT Aarya CHANAKYA".

Suresh Guptha and the flying box

Suresh Guptha and the flying box

Once upon a time, in the town of Calcutta there lived a merchant called Naresh Guptha. When he was born, his family was very poor. But Naresh was very hardworking. Morning to evening he tried his best to earn money. He succeeded too. He became extremely rich. But Naresh was very careful about his money. He did not spend even a paisa unnecessarily. If there was expenditure, he always asked, “By spending this money, what will I get in return? Will it be useful to me?”. He had a son called Suresh. After a long time, Naresh died. All his money came to Suresh. Suresh did not know the value of money. He spent it unnecessarily. Lot of people gathered round him. They praised Suresh so much that he gave them whatever they asked for. Soon Suresh lost all the money his father gave him. He became so poor, that he did not have anything to eat. At that time a close friend of Naresh gifted a big box to Suresh. Suresh thought that it will contain lot of money. So he wanted to open and see it. But as soon as he opened a carpet came out of it. It asked Suresh, “Master , where can I take you?.” Suresh told the carpet, “Anywhere, where there is food.” The carpet then went inside the box and asked Suresh to sit on the box. As soon as Suresh sat on the box , it started flying. It took him to the town of Gangtok., where food was in plenty. Suresh ate whatever he wanted and became happy. Again Suresh, opened the box. The carpet again came out. It asked him, “Master, where can I take you?” Suresh replied, “I want to earn money. So please take me to a place where I can earn money without much effort.” The carpet went in to the box. Suresh sat on the box and it took him to the town of Mysore. Suresh, enquired from people there about earning money easily. They told him, “It is easy over here. There is a closed palace. Inside there is a princess. She has lot of money. She will give it to a person whom she likes. “ Then Suresh opened the box and ordered it to take him near the princess. It took him there very easily. The princess was very surprised to see Suresh. She asked him , who are you? And what do you want?” Suresh replied, “I am from Calcutta. I want to earn money without working.” The princess replied, “That is very easy. I have lot of money. But my parents will permit me to give this money to you, if you tell them a story. If they like it, then they will ask me to give you as much money as you want, two days later, in the town hall.” Suresh said, “That is very easy. I will come again when your parents are there.” Next day Suresh came again to the closed palace of the princes .Her parents were also there. They told him, “Our daughter told us about you. We are feeling very bored here. If you tell us a good story, we will ask her to give as much money as you want.” Suresh then started telling a story. There was a very big house in Peking. It belonged to a rich man. The rich man and his family had gone for a picnic. Only the house maid was there. She had also gone out to see her friend. At that time all the things in the kitchen were getting bored. The match box which was near the iron pot started talking,” Hey Iron pot. You look so black. I think , you must be from a poor family.” The iron pot replied, “Are you from a rich family? Let us hear your story?” The match box replied, “ In the rich forest of Himalayas there stood a very great Pine tree. All round it were much smaller trees. All the other small trees, called the Pine tree as the “King tree”. The king tree grew very big. One day, a merchant from Calcutta came to that forest. He saw the Pine tree. He purchased the Pine tree and cut it into pieces. The big piece from the trunk was made in to a ship. The smaller pieces were used to build a big house in Calcutta. The smallest pieces were cut uniformly . A red cap was attached to them. We are those pieces with a crown. The king sticks from a king tree.” Then the iron pot replied, “That is very interesting,, I will tell you my story. There was a big village in Bihar called Jharia. Some people from the town went there. They could easily find out that all the rocks of Jharia were iron. So they brought lot of such stones. They crushed and washed all those stones. Then those people started burning those stones. From those came out iron. Then they made iron in to liquid. I was made from that liquid. I think I too am rich like you.” The window curtain of the kitchen , who heard these two stories started talking, “How interesting. My case is very different. There was no burning or cutting in my case. In the small town of Coimbatore, a farmer planted a black seed. From it came the cotton plant. The farmer put lot of manure to this plant. It bore bright yellow flowers. After some time, these flowers became cotton bolls. These bolls dried and burst one day. Out of it my parents, the cotton flew out. The farmer collected all the cotton and then made me.” Suddenly they heard a very loud laugh. This was from whole kitchen. Many things stored in boxes , many vegetables and many fruits stored in the refrigerator started laughing. They all together told, “We have been hearing your story. But we are all different. We grew in different fields all over India. The farmer harvested us separately and packed them in big bags. Such bags were purchased by the merchants. They then packed us in small bags. We were then sold to the master of this house. We are not expecting anything pleasant. We were afraid that ,they will light the stow and boil us. Once we are to their liking they will eat us.” When all the materials in the kitchen were telling their stories, the maid suddenly entered. It was already dark. So she took the match box and lit the only remaining stick .Work started in the kitchen. All the materials in the kitchen became silent. .They were not feeling bored now.” The parents of the princess liked this story very much. They told the princess. “You can give as much as he wants . But it would be after two days and in the town hall exactly at 5 PM. If he does not come at that time, he will not get any money..” Suresh thanked them. He went round many places on his box. He wanted to entertain the people of Mysore. So he brought lot of fire crackers from Shivakasi. On The day when the princess came out of the Palace and went to the town hall. Suresh went to the top of a Chamundi hill and started burning all the crackers. The people of Mysore were very happy to see the wonderful display. Suresh became very proud. But unfortunately the box and the carpet got burnt by the fireworks. Suresh started running towards Mysore. He could not reach the town hall before 5 PM. The princess and her parents again went back to the locked palace. Poor Suresh started working hard every day. After a lot of time he too became as rich as his father.

Sharath Kumar and the jewel box

Sharath Kumar and the jewel box

Sharath Kumar worked in the army of a king. When he was slightly wounded and injured one of his fingers, he lost his job. He felt dejected and started walking to his village which was at a very long distance. While he was walking through the forest, he saw a big mango tree with lot of mangoes in it. He felt like climbing the tree. Suddenly an old man who had a very big beard appeared there. He told Sharath Kumar, “My name is Mantra swami. I am a magician. You appear to be a very good person and I want to help you. I would give you my magical towel. Along with it you climb up this mango tree. When you reach the top, you will find a big hole in the mango tree. Get down in this hole. This will take you to a room below the tree. In that room there will be a cash box. On that box a dog with saucer like eyes will be sitting. Do not be afraid. Catch hold of the dog and keep it on my magical towel. If you open the box, you will find lot of copper coins. After taking whatever you want, go to the next room. Here again there would be another box. On this again a dog will be sitting. His eyes will be like dinner plates. Do not be afraid. Catch hold of him and keep him on this magical towel. That box will contain lot of silver. Take whatever you want and go to the next room. Here again there will be a big box. On it a dog will be sitting. His eyes will be like cycle wheels. Do not be afraid. Catch hold of him and keep him on the magical towel. This box will contain materials made of gold. Take whatever you want. Go to the next room. There will be jewel box and no dog there. Bring the jewel box. I want it for my magic.” Sharath Kumar did as told my Mantra Swami. He collected lot of gold and silver articles. He also got the jewel box. He came out and asked Mantra swami. What magic will this jewel box do? Mantra swami did not reply but tried to snatch away the jewel box from Sharath Kumar’s hand. Sharath Kumar simply pushed Mantra swami down and ran away. He kept on running till he reached a big town. He purchased a house and all material needed and started living comfortably. He gave lot of money to all persons in difficulty. Like this after some time he had spent all the money he had. He did not know what to do. Then he thought of the jewel box. It did not open. Then he hit it. Suddenly the dog with saucer like eyes appeared. It asked him, “Master, what do you want?” Sharath Kumar asked for more money. The dog also told him, “If you hit this jewel box once, I will come. If you hit it twice, the dog with eyes like lunch plate will come. If you hit it thrice, the dog with eyes like cycle wheel will come. We will help you in whatever way you want.” Sharath Kumar was very happy. One day he saw a big black palace in the town. He asked his friends about it. They told him, “In that black palace, there is a pretty princess, who is very kind. But she is guarded day and night by her parents. They do not want the princess to marry any body.” That night Sharath Kumar called the Dog with Saucer like eyes. He told him to go and bring the princess. He brought her is a wheel chair. The princess suddenly woke up and asked Sharath Kumar, “Who are you?” Sharath Kumar did not reply but asked the dog with the saucer like eyes to return the princess to her palace. Next day the princess told her mother, “Yesterday in my dream, I was taken outside this palace. There was a very good soldier there but he did not tell who he is? The mother of the princess got worried. She told the princess, “If the same thing happens today, you ask him,” who he is? If he refuses to tell, then start crying.” That night, Sharath Kumar sent the dog with eyes like lunch plate. That dog took the princess before him along with her cot. The princess woke up and asked, “Hey, good man, who you are? “ When he did not tell she started crying. Then Sharath Kumar told, “I am a poor soldier. I like you very much. Will you marry me?” The princess replied, “I too like you. I will ask my mother today.” Sharath Kumar returned her back o the palace, Next day, the princess told her mother, “Today also I went out along with the cot. That ma is a poor soldier. His name is Sharath Kumar. He wants to marry me. Can I mummy?” The queen told the princess, “You bring him tomorrow night along with you, we will talk to him. If we like him, then you can marry him.” Next day Sharath Kumar asked the dog with eyes like Lunch plate to bring the princess. She told him, “My mummy and daddy want to see you. If they like you we can get married.” Then Sharath Kumar summoned the dog with eyes like cycle wheel. He took both the princess and Sharath Kumar inside the palace. The king and queen along with their soldiers were waiting to catch Sharath Kumar and put him in jail. Sharath Kumar then hit his jewel box 6 times. The three dogs came and they chased away the king, queen and all their soldiers. Sharath Kumar then opened the palace and came out. The people made Sharath Kumar and the princess as their king and queen. They both lived happily.

Shyamala-the modern Cinderella

Shyamala-the modern Cinderella

In the city of Bangalore, there lived a rich family. Kamala and Lalitha were the twin girls of this family. Their father was Ramu and mother Abhi. One girl called Shyamala also lived with them. She was a poor orphan cousin and was helping the family by doing little bit of work. She always called Ramu and Abhi as daddy and Mummy. Though all the family members liked Shyamala, they all thought that Kamala and Lalitha were more beautiful than her. A music teacher and a dance teacher daily came to their house to teach Kamala and Lalitha. Shyamala always watched what they were learning and learnt music and dance faster than them. She sang all she learnt before Kittu the gardener, Subbu, the driver, and Gomathi, the cook. All these servants liked Shyamala very much. Gomathi, who was once upon a time rich, had earlier worked as a maid in a rich house and knew all about dressing and make up. Kittu the gardener, who was working in several houses, was a darling of several rich people. Subbu also had several driver friends and among them was a great magician Hoom Phat
A Miss Young Bangalore competition was being arranged in Bangalore. Only selected people could participate in this competition. People who were organizers visited the house of rich people and invited all the pretty girls. Abhi who came to know about this shut Shyamala in a room so that only Kamala and Lalitha were selected.
The day of the competition came. Kamala ad Lalitha were made up by beauticians and dressed in costly cloths. They were taken to the venue in an ambassador car of their father. He drove the car. He told the driver that he should come to the venue at exactly 10.30 PM to pick them up. After they went Shyamala went to the garden and cried. Gomathi, Kittu and Subbu who saw her crying felt sad. They decided to help her. Gomathi who knew the art of make up , dressed her up. She took from her old collection a very pretty dress gifted to her by a rich lady. Kittu went to Hum Phat and requested him to help Shyamala. Since Hum Phat knew about Shyamala he agreed. He told Kittu that his magic that day would be effective only till 10 PM Then using his magical powers Hum Phat transformed Shyamala in to a very rich looking girl . He also created by his magic golden shoes .. By his magic, the look of tiredness in Shyamala disappeared. She was really glowing.Subbu borrowed his friend driver’s old Rolls Royce car. Hum Phat chanted some spells and the old car looked brand new. Subbu also looked like a very rich man’s driver. Shyamala should rush back home, so that, Subbu could go to the venue and pick up his master and also because the magic of Hum Phat will not work after 10 PM. Shyamala arrived at the venue as a very pretty looking well dressed , glowing girl, in a Rolls Royce car. As soon as the organizers saw her, they gave her entry. None of the people in the audience had seen such a pretty girl like Shyamala, Kamala and Lalitha also could not recognize her. There are fifty young girls for the competition. Initially 25 were selected based on their beauty. Kamala and Lalitha were left out. Then they were screened based on a graceful walk. Here only 10 girls were selected. Shyamala was one of them. They were screened based on their dancing skills. Here only three girls were selected. Again Shyamala was one of them. The judges then started testing their intelligence. At last the judges asked them what they will do with the price money, which was large. One girl answered that she would buy nice cloths. The second one answered that she would, build a new house.

Hamsa Puthra or the son of a swan

Hamsa Puthra or the son of a swan

Karthik was a very good man. He had a daughter called Saral in his home. Once Karthik was returning from the nearest town by walk through the forest. While he was crossing a big lake he saw a pretty boy being looked after by a swan. Karthik went near the swan and told him that he will look after the child well. He brought that child home and called him Hamsa Puthra. After a few years his wife died because of some illness. Since his wife was no more, he engaged a cook called Thadaga in his house. Thadaga was a very bad lady who knew some magic. She liked Saral and taught her lot of what she knew about magic. One day when Karthik had gone to a far off city on business, Saral saw Thadaga bringing lot of water from a far off well. Naturally she became very curious and asked Thadaga, “Auntie, why are you bringing so much water?” Then Thadaga replied, “I do not like the boy Hamsa Puthra. So tomorrow morning, I will get up early morning and boil all this water. When he is sleeping, I will pour it on him, so he will die. Please do not tell this to him. Then afterwards we can have a very nice time.” Saral who was a very nice girl liked Hamsa Puthra very much. So she went and told him about Thadaga’s plan. Since both of them liked each other, they decided to run away that night,]. They acted as if they were asleep and ran away to the forest at night. Thadaga woke up in the morning and saw that both children had run away. She sent three servants on horseback to find the children and bring them back. Seeing the men on horse back from a distance, Saral told Hamsa Puthra, “I like you a lot and I would be always with you.” Hamsa Puthra replied, “Saral, I too like you a lot and I will never leave you.” Hearing this Saral changed Hamsa Puthra in to a rose plant and she became a rose flower on that plant. The servants who had seen them from a distance found that the children were not to be found but there was only a rose plant with a rose flower. They went and told Thadaga about this. Thadaga told them, “You fools, you should have picked the rose flower and brought it to me. It is actually Saral. You go again and search for them.” The three men again went on their horse and saw the children from a distance. Seeing them Saral told, Hamsa Puthra, “I like you a lot and I would be always with you.” Hamsa Puthra replied, “Saral, I too like you a lot and I will never leave you.” Then Saral changed Hamsa Puthra in to a temple and she became the Goddess in the temple. When the men who were chasing them came near, they were not able to see Saral and Hamsa Puthra but were able to see only a temple. So they went back and told Thadaga about it. This time Thadaga told them, “You fools, the temple was Hamsa Puthra and the Goddess was Saral. You should have brought the Goddess to me. This time I will also come along with you.” Then the three men and Thadaga went after Saral and Hamsa Puthra. Seeing them, Saral asked Hamsa Puthra, “I like you a lot and I would be always with you.” Hamsa Puthra replied, “Saral, I too like you a lot and I will never leave you.” Then Saral changed Hamsa Puthra in to a very big lake and she became a big swan in the lake. Thadaga could recognize that Saral was the swan. She got in to the water to catch the swan. But the swan hit her with her beak strongly and Thadaga was drowned. Seeing this the servants ran away and informed everything to Karthik, who had returned by that time. Karthik immediately came in search of the children and took very good care of them.

Amrapali

Amrapali

Govindan and his wife Vinitha lived happily in a village. To their bad luck, they did not get any children. Near their house was a garden of a very old magician. After some years Vinitha knew that she was going to be a mother. Vinitha and Govindan were extremely happy. Then the mango season came. The magician’s garden had lot of mango trees. One day while looking at the garden through the window Vinitha saw those fleshy mangos. She wanted to eat them. But she knew she would not get them because it belonged to a magician. She became sad and was getting thinner day by day. Govindan saw this and asked her, “Vinitha, what is the matter with you? Then Vinitha told, “I have an impossible desire. I want to eat mangos from the magician’s garden. “
That evening, when no body was there Govindan entered the garden of the magician and plucked a mango. Vinitha ate it. But she wanted some more. Next day also Govindan entered the magician’s garden. But he was caught red handed by the old magician. The old magician told that he would curse Govindan and his wife. Both Govindan and Vinitha begged him not to do so. Then he told, “Ok, but when the baby is born, you have to give it to me. I will bring it like my own child”. Fearing the magician, Govindan and Vinitha agreed for this condition
When the baby was born, it was a pretty girl. The girl was handed over to the magician. The magician named the baby as Amrapali (Amra-mango) and kept her in a room built at the top of a tower in his garden. This room had only one opening and no windows are doors. Years passed. Amrapali became a very pretty lady. Daily the magician used to come to the bottom of the tower and sing, “Hey Amrapali, My pretty lass, Help me to climb in to the tower.” Then Amrapali would let down her long hair. The magician would then climb up the tower. He would give her good food, nice cloths etc. When things were going like this, prince Vikrama one day happened to come near the tower. He then heard the song of the magician and how he climbed on to the tower. That day night prince Vikrama came near the tower and sang, “Hey Amrapali, My pretty lass, Help me to climb in to the tower.”
Amrapali as usual let her hair and the prince climbed in to the tower. The prince liked Amrapali at first sight and asked her to marry him. She agreed. She told him to bring some silk daily, so that she can weave a ladder to escape. When the ladder was about to be completed, without thinking, Amrapali asked the magician, “How come you are lighter than the prince?” Immediately the magician got very angry and took Amrapali to a far of desert and left her there. When the prince came next day, the magician caught him. When they were fighting with each other, the prince fell on a thorn bush and lost both his eyes. The magician fell on a rock and he became mad. The prince started wandering here and there. After one year he reached the same desert where Amrapali was living. By that time Amrapali was having a small son. Both of them were talking in the desert. Prince Vikram started crying as he recognized her voice. When tears came out of his eyes, he got back both his eyes. Prince Vikram took Amrapali to his kingdom and they lived happily.
