Heart Touching Story

There once was a little boy who lived with his mother. They were very poor. The boy was very handsome and extremely smart. As he grew older, he became even more handsome and smarter. However, his mother always remained sad.

Once, the boy asked his mother, “Mother, why are you always sad?” Mother replied, “Son, a fortune teller once told me that whoever has teeth like yours will become very famous.” Then the boy asked, “Will you not like it if I become famous?”

“Oh my son! What kind of mother wouldn’t like it if her son became famous? I’m always sad because I keep thinking that you will forget me and leave me once you become famous.”

Upon hearing this, the boy started to cry. He stood there in front of his mother for a while and then ran out of the house. He picked up a rock from outside and smashed his front two teeth. He started to bleed from his mouth.

His mother ran out and was shocked to see what he had done. She asked, “Son! What did you do?” In reply, the boy held his mother’s hands and said, “Mother, if these teeth cause you pain and make you sad, I don’t want them. They are of no use to me. I don’t want to be famous with these teeth. I want to be famous by serving you, and through your blessings…”
My friends, this boy was none other than the "GREAT Aarya CHANAKYA".

Cinderella or The Little Glass Slipper

Cinderella or The Little Glass Slipper

Once there was a gentleman who married for his second wife the proudest and most haughty woman that was ever seen. She had by a former husband two daughters of her own humor, who were, indeed, exactly like her in all things. He had likewise, by another wife, a young daughter, but of unparalleled goodness and sweetness of temper, which she took from her mother, who was the best creature in the world.
No sooner were the ceremonies of the wedding over but the mother-in-law began to show herself in her true colors. She could not bear the good qualities of this pretty girl, and the less because they made her own daughters appear the more odious. She employed her in meanest work of the house: she scoured the dishes, tables, etc., and scrubbed madam's chamber and those of misses, her daughters; she lay up in a sorry garret, upon a wretched straw bed, while her sisters lay in fine rooms, with floors all inlaid,  upon beds of the very newest fashion, and where they  had  looking-glasses so large that they might see themselves at their full length from head to foot.
The poor girl bore all patiently and dared not tell her father, who would have rattled her off; for his wife governed him entirely. When she had done her work she used to go into the chimney-corner and sit down among cinders and ashes, which made her commonly be called a cinder maid; but the youngest, who was not so rude and uncivil as the eldest, called her Cinderella. However, Cinderella, notwithstanding her mean apparel, was a hundred times handsomer than her sisters, though they were always dressed very richly.
It happened that the King's son gave a ball and invited all persons, of fashion to it. Our young misses were also invited, for they cut a very grand figure among the quality. They were mightily delighted at this invitation, and wonderfully busy in choosing out such gowns, petticoats, and head-clothes as might become them. This was a new trouble to Cinderella, for it was she who ironed her sisters' linen and plaited their ruffles. They talked all day long of nothing but how they should be dressed.
"For my part," said the eldest, "I will wear my red velvet suit with French trimming."
"And I," said the youngest, "shall have my usual petticoat; but then, to make amends for that, I will put on my gold-flowered manteau and my diamond stomacher, which is far from being the most ordinary one in the world."
They sent for the best tire-woman they could get to make up their headdresses and adjust their double pinners, and they had their red brushes and patches from Mademoiselle de la Poche.
Cinderella was likewise called up to them to be consulted in all these matters, for she had excellent notions and advised them always for the best, nay, and offered her services to dress their heads, which they were very willing she should do. As she was doing this they said to her:
"Cinderella, would you not be glad to go to the ball?"
"Alas!" said she, "you only jeer me. It is not for such as I am to go thither."
"Thou art in the right of it," replied they. "It would make the people laugh to see a cinder wench at a ball."
Any one but Cinderella would have dressed their heads awry, but she was very good and dressed them perfectly well. They were almost two days without eating, so much they were transported with joy. They broke above a dozen of laces in trying to be laced up close, that they might have a fine, slender shape, and they were continually at their looking-glass. At last the happy day came. They went to Court, and Cinderella followed them with her eyes as long as she could, and when she had lost sight of them she fell a-crying.
Her Godmother, who saw her all in tears, asked her what was the matter.
"I wish I could--I wish I could--"
She was not able to speak the rest being interrupted by her tears and sobbing.  This Godmother of hers, who was a fairy, said to her: "Thou wishest thou could'st go to the ball. Is it not so?"
"Y--es," cried Cinderella, with a great sigh.
"Well," said her Godmother, "be but a good girl, and I will contrive that thou shalt go." Then she took her into her chamber and said to her: "Run into the garden and bring me a pumpkin."
Cinderella went immediately to gather the finest she could get and brought it to her Godmother, not being able to imagine how this pumpkin could make her go to the ball. Her Godmother scooped out all the inside of it, having left nothing but the rind; which done, she struck it with her wand, and the pumpkin was instantly turned into a fine coach, gilded all over with gold.
She then went to look into her mousetrap, where she found six mice all alive, and ordered Cinderella to lift up a little the trapdoor, when, giving each mouse as it went out a little tap with her wand, the mouse was that moment turned into a fine horse, which altogether made a very fine set of six horses of a beautiful mouse-colored dapple-gray. Being at a loss for a coachman, Cinderella said:
"I will go and see if there is never a rat in the rattrap--we may make a coachman of him."
"Thou art in the right," replied her Godmother. "Go and look."
Cinderella brought the trap to her, and in it there were three huge rats. The fairy made choice of one of the three which had the largest beard, and having touched him with her wand he was turned into a fat, jolly coachman, who had the smartest whiskers eyes ever beheld. After that she said to her:
"Go again into the garden, and you will find six lizards behind the watering-pot. Bring them to me."
She had no sooner done so but her Godmother turned them into six footmen, who skipped up immediately behind the coach, with their liveries all bedaubed with gold and silver, and clung as close behind each other as if they had done nothing else their whole lives. The fairy then said to Cinderella:
"Well, you see here an equipage fit to go to the ball with. Are you not pleased with it?"
"Oh! yes," cried she; "but must I go thither as I am, in these dirty rags?"
Her Godmother only just touched her with her wand, and at the same instant her clothes were turned into cloth-of-gold and silver, all beset with jewels. Ah! who can describe a robe made by the fairies? It was white as snow, and as dazzling; round the hem hung a fringe of diamonds, sparkling like dewdrops in the sunshine. The lace about the throat and arms could only have been spun by fairy spiders. Surely it was a dream! Cinderella put her daintily gloved hand to her throat, and softly touched the pearls that encircled her neck.
"Come, child," said the Godmother, "or you will be late."
As Cinderella moved, the firelight shone upon her dainty shoes.
"They are of diamonds," she said.
"No," answered her Godmother, smiling; "they are better than that--they are of glass, made by the fairies. And now, child, go, and enjoy yourself to your heart's content."
But her Godmother, above all things, commanded her not to stay till after midnight, telling her at the same time that if she stayed one moment longer the coach would be a pumpkin again, her horses mice, her coachman a rat, her footmen lizards, and her clothes become just as they were before.
She promised her Godmother she would not fail of leaving the ball before midnight, and then away she drives, scarce able to contain herself for joy. The King's son, who was told that a great Princess, whom nobody knew, was come, ran out to receive her. He gave her his hand as she alighted out of the coach; and led her into the hall among all the company. There was immediately a profound silence, they left off dancing, and the violins ceased to play, so attentive was every one to contemplate the singular beauties of the unknown newcomer. Nothing was then heard but a confused noise of "Ha! how handsome she is! Ha! how handsome she is!"
The King himself, old as he was, could not help watching her and telling the Queen softly that it was a long time since he had seen so beautiful and lovely a creature.
All the ladies were busied in considering her clothes and headdress, that they might have some made next day after the same pattern, provided they could meet with such fine materials and as able hands to make them.
The King's son conducted her to the most honorable seat and afterward took her out to dance with him. She danced so very gracefully that they all more and more admired her. A fine collation was served up, whereof the young Prince ate not a morsel, so intently was he busied in gazing on her.
She went and sat down by her sisters, showing them a thousand civilities, giving them part of the oranges and citrons which the Prince had presented her with, which very much surprised them, for they did not know her. While Cinderella was thus amusing her sisters, she heard the clock strike eleven and three-quarters, whereupon she immediately made a courtesy to the company and hastened away as fast as she could.
Being got home, she ran to seek out her Godmother, and after having thanked her she said she could not but heartily wish she might go next day to the ball, because the King's son had desired her.
As she was eagerly telling her Godmother what had passed at the ball her two sisters knocked at the door, which Cinderella ran and opened.
"How long you have stayed!" cried she, gaping, rubbing her eyes, and stretching herself as if she had been just waked out of her sleep. She had not, however, had any manner of inclination to sleep since they went from home.
"If thou hadst been at the ball,"  said one of her sisters, "thou would'st not have been tired with it. There came thither the finest Princess, the most beautiful ever was seen with mortal eyes. She showed us a thousand civilities and gave us oranges and citrons."
Cinderella seemed very indifferent in the matter. Indeed, she asked them the name of that Princess, but they told her they did not know it, and that the King's son was very uneasy on her account, and would give all the world to know who she was. At this Cinderella, smiling, replied:
"She must, then, be very beautiful indeed. How happy you have  been! Could not I see her? Ah! dear Miss Charlotte, do lend me your yellow suit of clothes which you wear every day."
"Ay, to be sure," cried Miss Charlotte; "lend my clothes to such it dirty cinder maid as thou art! I should be a fool."
Cinderella expected well such answer and was very glad of the refusal, for she would have been sadly put to it if her sister had lent her what she asked for jestingly.
The next day the two sisters were at the ball, and so was Cinderella, but dressed more magnificently than before. The King's son was always by her, and never ceased his compliments and kind speeches to her, to whom all this was so far from being tiresome that she quite forgot what her Godmother had recommended to her, so that she at last counted the clock striking twelve when she took it to be no more than eleven. She then rose up and fled as nimble as a deer. The Prince followed, but could not overtake her. She left behind one of her glass slippers, which the Prince took up most carefully. She got home, but quite out of breath, and in her old clothes, having nothing left her of all her finery but one of the little slippers, fellow to that she dropped. The guards at the palace gate were asked if they had not seen a Prinecess go out.
They said they had seen nobody go out but a young girl, very meanly dressed, and who had more of the air of a poor country girl than a gentlewoman.
When the two sisters returned from the ball Cinderella asked them if they had been well diverted and if the beautiful Princess had been there.
They told her yes, but that she hurried away immediately when the clock struck twelve, and with so much haste that she dropped one of her little glass slippers, the prettiest in the world, which the King's son had taken up; that he had done nothing but look at her all the time at the ball, and that most certainly he was very much in love with the beautiful person who owned the glass slipper.
What they said was very true, for a few days after the King's son caused it to be proclaimed, by sound of trumpet, that he would marry her whose foot this slipper would just fit. They whom he employed began to try it upon the Princesses, then the Duchesses and all the Court, but in vain. It was brought to the two sisters, who did all they possibly could to thrust their feet into the slipper, but they could not effect it.
On the following morning there was a great noise of trumpets and drums, and a procession passed through the town, at the head of which rode the King's son. Behind him came a herald, bearing a velvet cushion, upon which rested a little glass slipper. The herald blew a blast upon the trumpet, and then read a proclamation saying that the King's son would wed any lady in the land who could fit the slipper upon her foot, if she could produce another to match it.
Of course, the sisters tried to squeeze their feet into the slipper, but it was of no use--they were much too large. Then Cinderella shyly begged that she might try. How the sisters laughed with scorn when the Prince knelt to fit the slipper on the cinder maid's foot; but what was their surprise when it slipped on with the greatest ease, and the next moment Cinderella produced the other from her pocket! Once more she stood in the slippers, and once more the sisters saw before them the lovely Princess who was to be the Prince's bride. For at the touch of the magic shoes the little gray frock disappeared forever, and in place of it she wore the beautiful robe the fairy Godmother had given to her.
The sisters hung their heads with sorrow and vexation; but kind little Cinderella put her arms round their necks, kissed them, and forgave them for all their unkindness, so that they could not help but love her.
The Prince could not bear to part from his little love again, so he carried her back to the palace in his grand coach, and they were married that very day. Cinderella's stepsisters were present at the feast, but in the place of honor sat the fairy Godmother.
So the poor little cinder maid married the Prince, and in time they came to be King and Queen, and lived happily ever after.

Unity is Strength

Unity is Strength

Once upon a time, there was a flock of doves that flew in search of food led by their king. One day, they had flown a long distance and were very tired. The dove king encouraged them to fly a little further. The smallest dove picked up speed and found some rice scattered beneath a banyan tree. So all the doves landed and began to eat.
Suddenly a net fell over them and they were all trapped. They saw a hunter approaching carrying a huge club. The doves desperately fluttered their wings trying to get out, but to no avail.
The king had an idea. He advised all the doves to fly up together carrying the net with them. He said that there was strength in unity.
Each dove picked up a portion of the net and together they flew off carrying the net with them. The hunter looked up in astonishment. He tried to follow them, but they were flying high over hills and valleys. They flew to a hill near a city of temples where there lived a mouse who could help them. He was a faithful friend of the dove king.
When the mouse heard the loud noise of their approach, he went into hiding. The dove king gently called out to him and then the mouse was happy to see him. The dove king explained that they had been caught in a trap and needed the mouse's help to gnaw at the net with his teeth and set them free.
The mouse agreed saying that he would set the king free first. The king insisted that he first free his subjects and the king last. The mouse understood the king's feelings and compled with his wishes. He began to cut the net and one by one all the doves were freed including the dove king.
They all thanked the mouse and flew away together, united in their strength.

The Ass Has No Brains

The Ass Has No Brains

Once upon a time, there lived an old lion who was, of course, the king of the jungle. However, he was old and he could not hunt for food. With each passing day he grew weaker and weaker. He realized that he needed an assistant to bring him his food, else he would surely die.
He thought that a fox would be the best person to hire in this situation. He summoned the fox and offered him the post of Minister because he was so clever. The fox did not trust the lion, but he could not refuse the king. He agreed and the lion was pleased.
The old lion told the fox that as he was the king of the jungle, he should not have to hunt for his food. Therefore, the fox's first duty as Minister was to bring him an animal to eat every day.
The fox went out to find an animal and came across a fat ass. He told the ass that the king of the jungle had invited the ass to act as his Chief Minister and had been searching for him for days. But the ass was scared of the lion and told the fox that he was not fit to be Chief Minister. The fox flattered the ass, praising the fact that he was so wise and hardworking. And so he convinced the ass to go along with him.
When they reached the lion's den, the poor ass's nerve failed him again and he refused to move forward. The fox informed the lion that his new Chief Minister was feeling shy. So the lion himself came forward. The poor ass ran for his life. The lion was very angry. The fox told him to be patient and leave it to him. The fox went back to the ass and told him that if the lion had wanted to kill him, he could easily have done so before. He said that the lion had approached him to share some secret that he did not want the fox to hear. He tempted the ass telling him that he would be very powerful as the lion's second in command. In this way, the fox managed to entice the ass to go back to the lion
The lion welcomed them graciously. As the ass drew nearer, the lion pounced on him and killed him. He then thanked the fox. As the lion sat down to eat, the fox suggested that the lion take a bath before his meal. The lion thought it was a good idea and went off to have a bath. He instructed the fox to watch over the carcass of the ass.
The fox obediently sat down to keep watch. But the fox was hungry and his mouth watered as he looked at the ass just waiting to be eaten. He thought to himself that since he had taken all the trouble to bring the ass to the lion, he was entitled to the best portion of the meal. So he ate the ass's brain.
When the lion returned, he felt that there was something amiss. The fox reminded him that he had given the ass a powerful blow on his head. Satisfied with this explanation, the lion settled down to his meal. He soon realized that the ass had no brain. He questioned the fox about this. The fox replied that if the ass had had a brain, he would never have returned with the fox to meet the lion.

The Musical Donkey

The Musical Donkey

Once upon a time, there was an old thin donkey that worked for a washerman by day. At night he was free to wander as he liked.
One night, he made friends with a jackal and they both went out in search of food. They found a garden filled with cucumbers and helped themselves to a delicious meal. After that they returned every night to the garden to eat cucumbers. And so the donkey started looking healthy and fat.
One night, after a particularly tasty meal, the donkey was overwhelmed with happiness. So happy was he, that he told the jackal he wanted to sing a song. The jackal immediately told him not to do any such thing! He warned the donkey that they were thieves so it was not a good idea to make noise and attract the farmer's attention. If they were caught, they would be beaten.
But the donkey insisted on singing. The jackal told him that his voice was not sweet. The donkey was upset and thought that the jackal was jealous of him. The jackal warned that donkey again that if he did sing, the farmers would come and reward him in a way that he would not like.
But the donkey started singing, and the jackal decided to wait outside the garden. When the farmers heard the donkey braying, they rushed out to beat him. The donkey fell down and the farmers tied a heavy stone around his neck.
Somehow the donkey dragged himself out to the waiting jackal. The jackal congratulated him on his reward. The donkey realised his mistake and apologised to the jackal for not listening to good advice.

The Tortoise and the Geese

The Tortoise and the Geese

Once upon a time, there was a tortoise who lived in a tank. He made friends with two geese who used to come and visit him at the tank. They were happy for many years.
Then there was a drought that lasted for months. The tanks and rivers started drying up under the burning sun. The people and animals were starving and the birds were migrating to more fertile lands. The two geese decided to save themselves and go away. So they came to say a sad goodbye to their friend the tortoise
The poor tortoise could not believe that they could leave him behind to die. The geese wondered how they could save their friend too. The problem was that they did not know how to take him along because the tortoise could not fly. The tortoise came up with an idea. He told the geese to get him a stick that he could hold between his teeth. The geese could then take him to a more fertile land flying slowly while holding the two ends of the stick.
But the geese were worried that if the tortoise opened his mouth by mistake to speak, he would lose his grip on the stick and would fall down and die. So the tortoise promised not to open his mouth.
The geese flew off carrying the tortoise with them. They flew higher and higher, over hills, valleys, fields and plains. Finally, they flew over a city. The people of the city were amazed to see such a strange sight. They clapped their hands and commented how wonderful it was too see the geese carrying the tortoise like that. The people's shouting and clapping annoyed the tortoise. He wondered aloud why these foolish people were making such a racket. But as soon as he opened his mouth to speak, he lost his grip on the stick and fell to the ground. And so the poor tortoise was killed all because of his foolishness and intolerance.

The Girl Who Married a Snake

The Girl Who Married a Snake

Once upon a time, there lived a Brahmin and his wife who had no children. They prayed to God every day in the hope that they would be blessed with a child.
One fine day, the Brahmin's wife did give birth to a baby, but it was a snake! All the villagers, their friends and relatives advised them to get rid of the baby snake. But the Brahmin's wife did not care that her baby was a snake. She loved it all the same and refused to get rid of it.
She reared the baby snake with tender loving care and gave him the best of things. After many years had passed, the Brahmin's wife decided that it was time to get her baby married. But which girl would marry a snake?
One day, when the Brahmin returned home, he found his wife sobbing. She refused to tell him the reason, but just continued weeping. Finally she told him that she was crying because she realized that he did not love his son because he was not even thinking of his son's marriage.
The Brahmin was shocked. He asked her which person in his right mind would agree to marry his daughter to a snake. But seeing his wife crying ceaselessly, he was forced to go out in search of a bride for his son.
He traveled far and wide, but with no success. Finally, he arrived in a big city where his best friend lived. The Brahmin decided to pay him a visit. They were both thrilled to see each other after such a long time. His friend asked him what brought him so far from home. The Brahmin replied that he was searching for a bride for his son. His friend told him to look no further and immediately promised his daughter's hand in marriage. The Brahmin told him to first take a look at his son. His friend refused saying that as he knew the family, it was not necessary. So he sent his beautiful daughter with the Brahmin
The Brahmin's wife was thrilled and immediately started making preparations for the wedding. Everyone advised the girl not to marry the snake, but she insisted that she must keep her father's word.
And so the girl and the snake were married. After marriage, the girl was the epitome of a devoted wife. She looked after the snake well. The snake slept in his box at night.
Then, one night, when the girl was going to sleep, she found a handsome young man in the room. She was scared and was about to run for help. The young man stopped her saying that he was her husband. Of course, she did not believe him. So he proved it by getting back into the snake skin. She was so happy that she fell at his feet. After that, every night the young man would shed the snakeskin and spend time with his bride. At daybreak, he would slip back into the snakeskin.
One night, the Brahmin heard noises in his daughter-in-law's room. So he kept a watch and saw the snake turning into a handsome young man. He rushed into the room and threw the snakeskin in to the fire. His son thanked him profusely saying that he was freed from a curse that forced him to stay in the snakeskin until someone destroyed it without his asking.
And so the handsome young man and his beautiful bride lived happily ever after.

The Crows and the Black Snake

The Crows and the Black Snake

Once upon a time a family of crows lived in a huge banyan tree. There was a Father Crow, a Mother Crow, and many baby crows.
One day a huge snake came to live in the hole at the bottom of the tree. The crows were unhappy about this, but could do nothing.
Soon Mother Crow hatched a few more eggs and some more baby crows were born. When the crows flew out in search of food, the snake ate up the babies. When the crows returned, they could not find their babies. They hunted high and low, but to no avail.
After a few months, Mother Crow gave birth to some more baby crows. This time Mother Crow stayed home when Father Crow went out in search of food. Ignoring the fact that Mother Crow was keeping a watchful eye on her babies, the snake still slithered up the tree and attacked the babies. Mother Crow tried to fight the snake off, but she was not strong enough. Other crows came to her aid, but the snake had already eaten the little ones and crawled back into its hole.
When Father Crow returned, he found all the crows weeping. He consoled his wife who wanted to leave the tree house immediately. Father Crow said that this tree had been their home for many years and they must live here. He thought of asking a wise old fox for help in order to get rid of the snake
The old fox came up with a brilliant plan. He told them to go to the river bank the next morning where the ladies of the royal family would be bathing. Their clothes and valuables would be kept on the river bank while the servants would be watching over them from a distance.
The fox asked the crows to pick up a necklace and while away making a raucous noise. This would make the servants chase them to the tree where the crows would drop the necklace into the snake's hole.
So the next morning when the crows flew to the river bank, Mother Crow picked up a pearl necklace and flew off as Father Crow cawed loudly to attract the servants' attention. The servants ran after Mother Crow and reached the banyan tree where they saw her drop the necklace into the snake hole. As the servants were trying to take the necklace out with the help of a long stick, the snake came out of the hole and hissed at them menacingly. The servants beat the snake to death. And so Mother and Father Crow lived happily ever after in the banyan tree

The Stork and the Crab

The Stork and the Crab

Once upon a time, there was a stork who caught the fish in a particular tank. The stork always had a full meal. As the years went by, the stork grew older and weaker. His ability to catch fish diminished. At times he would even starve. He knew he had to do something to survive.
One day he stood by the side of the tank with a very forlorn look on his face. The frogs, fish and crabs wondered why he was not trying to catch any food. A big crab asked him what the matter was. The stork answered that he was sad because all the fish in the tank were going to die and he would have to starve. He said that he had heard that people were going to fill the tank with mud and grow crops over it. The fish were very worried and asked the stork to help them.
The stork offered to take all of them to a bigger tank some distance away. But he said that he needed to rest between trips because of his age. He would only be able to carry a few fish at a time.
The stork took a beakful of fish on his first trip. He flew to a big rock and had a good meal. He rested awhile, and when he was hungry again, he took a second trip. In this manner, he took a trip each time that he was hungry.
The big crab in the tank also wanted to save himself and he requested the stork to take him too. The stork thought it was a good idea to try a new dish. He agreed to take the crab on his next trip.
After the stork flew up with him, the crab looked down to see what his new surrounding would be like. All he could see was dry land. He questioned the stork about this. The stork laughed wickedly and pointed to the rock below where the crab saw a heap of fish bones. The crab realized that he was to be the stork's next meal. So the crab dug his claws into the stork's neck and would not let go till the stork fell to the ground. The crab then cut off the stork's head and returned home to show it to all the other fish and share the story of his adventure.

The Big Lion and the Little Rabbit

The Big Lion and the Little Rabbit

Once upon a time, there lived a big lion in a jungle. Every day he hunted and killed many animals to satisfy his hunger. The animals were worried that one day none of them would be left alive. They all decided to go to the lion and find a solution to this problem.
When the lion saw all the animals approaching, he was very happy as he thought that he would not have to take the trouble to hunt. He could just kill all the animals together once and for all.
One of the animals stopped him and pleaded that he listen to what they had to say first. He went on to explain that as the lion was king of the jungle, and all the other animals were his subjects, the lion would not be a king at all if he killed all his subjects. He would have no one left to rule over. He suggested that if the lion stayed home, one animal would surrender itself each day as food for the lion. The lion agreed to this offer on the condition that if they ever failed to send him an animal, he would go on a killing spree and finish all of them off.
From then on, each day an animal was sent to the lion and the lion was pleased.
One day it was the turn of a little rabbit to sacrifice his life to provide food for the lion. This little one did not want to be the lion's meal. He thought of a plan that would save his life as well as the lives of all the other animals in the jungle.
The rabbit slowly made his way to the lion's den. The lion was pacing up and down, extremely hungry. He was furious when all he saw was a little rabbit. He wanted to kill all the animals in a rage. The rabbit timidly explained that the animals had actually sent him six rabbits, but five of them were killed and devoured by another lion.
The lion roared in anger. He wanted to know who this other lion was who dared to steal his food. The rabbit stuttered that it was a very big lion. He had warned the other lion not to eat him as his king would be very angry and definitely come to fight him. The rabbit went on to say that that the other lion had called His Majesty an impostor and had challenged him to prove who was actually the king of the jungle. The lion was furious. He asked the rabbit to take him to the other lion as he wanted to kill him.
The little rabbit led the lion to a well and told him that the other lion was in there. The lion peered into the well and saw his own reflection. He thought it was the other lion. He let out a huge roar which echoed back at him. He immediately jumped into the well to attack what he thought was the other lion. The lion dashed his head against the rocks and drowned.
The jubilant little rabbit returned to other animals to spread the good news.

The Monkey and the Crocodile

The Monkey and the Crocodile

Once upon a time, a clever monkey lived in a tree that bore juicy, red rose apples. He was very happy.
One fine day, a crocodile swam up to that tree and told the monkey that he had travelled a long distance and was in search of food as he was very hungry. The kind monkey offered him a few rose apples. The crocodile enjoyed them very much and asked the monkey whether he could come again for some more fruit. The generous monkey happily agreed.
The crocodile returned the next day. And the next. And the next one after that. Soon the two became very good friends. They discussed their lives, their friends and family, like all friends do. The crocodile told the monkey that he had a wife and that they lived on the other side of the river. So the kind monkey offered him some extra rose apples to take home to his wife. The crocodile's wife loved the rose apples and made her husband promise to get her some every day.
Meanwhile, the friendship between the monkey and the crocodile deepened as they spent more and more time together. The crocodile's wife started getting jealous. She wanted to put an end to this friendship. So she pretended that she could not believe that her husband could be friends with a monkey. Her husband tried to convince her that he and the monkey shared a true friendship. The crocodile's wife thought to herself that if the monkey lived on a diet of rose monkeys, his flesh would be very sweet. So she asked the crocodile to invite the monkey to their house.
The crocodile was not happy about this. He tried to make the excuse that it would be difficult to get the monkey across the river. But his wife was determined to eat the monkey's flesh. So she thought of a plan.
One day, she pretended to be very ill and told the crocodile that the doctor said that she would only recover if she ate a monkey's heart. If her husband wanted to save her life, he must bring her his friend's heart.
The crocodile was aghast. He was in a dilemma. On the one hand, he loved his friend. On the other, he could not possibly let his wife die. The crocodile's wife threatened him saying that if he did not get her the monkey's heart, she would surely die.
So the crocodile went to the rose apple tree and invited the monkey to come home to meet his wife. He told the monkey that he could ride across the river on the crocodile's back. The monkey happily agreed. As they reached the middle of the river, the crocodile began to sink. The frightened monkey asked him why he was doing that. The crocodile explained that he would have to kill the monkey to save his wife's life. The clever monkey told him that he would gladly give up his heart to save the life of the crocodile's wife, but he had left his heart behind in the rose apple tree. He asked the crocodile to make haste and turn back so that the monkey could go get his heart from the apple tree
The silly crocodile quickly swam back to the rose apple tree. The monkey scampered up the tree to safety. He told the crocodile to tell his wicked wife that she had married the biggest fool in the world.

Vikram and friends

Vikram and friends

Vikram was a great soldier in the Kingdom of Panna. He served the king well. But When Vikram, celebrated his 30th birthday, the king told him, “you are of no use to me now. You can go.” Vikram had not earned much money by then. So he decided to travel, get a few servants and earn some money
When Vikram was walking by a road he saw, one man called fatty carrying 100 big tress on his nail. Vikram asked him, “I am going to earn money. If you become my servant and come with me, I will give you a portion of the money that we earn together”. That man agreed and went with Vikram.
When both Vikram and his servant went for some distance they saw a soldier standing and aiming his gun at something. But both of them were not able to see anything. They asked him, “What are you trying to shoot.” He replied, “There is a fly sitting on a Banyan tree five hundred miles away. I am trying to shoot its left eye.” Vikram was impressed with this man. Vikram asked him, “I am going to earn money. If you become my servant and come with me, I will give you a portion of the money that we earn together”. That man agreed and went with Vikram.
When Vikram and both his servants walked further, they saw a man called Nosey who was closing one of his nostrils and blowing at something with the other nostril. They asked him, “What are you trying to do? Is your nose blocked.” Then Nosey laughed aloud and told them, “One thousand miles away there are one hundred wind mills. I am blowing with one nostril, so that they will all rotate.” They were all impressed. Vikram asked him, “I am going to earn money. If you become my servant and come with me, I will give you a portion of the money that we earn together”. That man agreed and went with Vikram.
When all the four of them walked further, they saw a runner who was running fast with one leg. He had tied the other leg. They became curious and asked him, “Why are you running with one leg?” he replied, “I run as fast as a cyclone if I use my two legs. That is why I am running using one leg.” They were all impressed. Vikram asked him, “I am going to earn money. If you become my servant and come with me, I will give you a portion of the money that we earn together”. That man agreed and went with Vikram. When all the five of them, they found a policeman who was wearing his cap upside down. They all laughed and asked the policeman, “Why are you wearing your cap upside down?” .The policeman replied,” If I wear it properly this entire place will become so cold and covered with ice and all of you will shiver.” They were all impressed. Vikram asked him, “I am going to earn money. If you become my servant and come with me, I will give you a portion of the money that we earn together”. That man agreed and went with Vikram.
Walking for a long way they reached another kingdom. In that kingdom, there was a king and a proud princess. The king had put a notice that, any body who wins a race against the princess will marry her. If he is defeated he will be killed. Vikram asked him “Can a servant of mine race against the princess?” The king replied that he does not have any objection. The runner servant of Vikram ran the race against the princess. They both were given a pot each. They were asked to go to the blue well, which was one hundred miles away and bring water from the well. The water of the well was blue. The runner reached the well within no time. By that time the princess had not even reached ten miles. So he returned back to about 50 miles. He thought he had lot of time to take rest. He started sleeping. The princess reached the spot. She saw blue water in the runner’s pot. So she kept her pot there, took the runner’s pot and started returning. The soldier who could see long distances was seeing all this. So he took his gun, put a paper ball in it and shot at the runner. When hit by the ball, the runner woke up. He suddenly understood what the princess has done. So he ran fast to the well and took one more pot of water. He could easily return back before the princess
Seeing that Vikram has won, the king did not want the princess to marry him. So he told Vikram and his friends, “I have arranged meals for you in the steel palace. You can go there and take meals. I will give the princess in marriage to you tomorrow. “ When Vikram and friends went in side the steel palace. It was locked from all sides. Big fire was also put all round. Vikram and friends felt it very hot inside. When they tried to come out, they could not. The policeman asked them not to worry and put his cap properly. The iron palace was now very cold. The friends ate their meals and slept properly. The king then sent his army to attack, Vikram and his friends. Nosey felt amused and started blowing through both his nostrils at the army. The entire army flew thousands of miles away
Then the king met Vikram, and told him “ The princess does not want to marry you. So instead of her I will give as much gold as you can carry.” Vikram told him, “One of my servants will carry the gold.’ Fatty was very much amused. He prepared a bag, which was so big, that it could carry ten mountains. All the gold in the king’s palace was not sufficient even to fill one corner. Then the king took all the gold from every one in his country and gave it to Fatty. Fatty using one finger carried even this. Then the king fell at the feet of Vikram and asked him for pardon. Vikram agreed but wanted all the silver and all the diamonds in his kingdom. All the gold, silver and Diamonds were divided equally between Vikram and his servants. They went back very rich to their homes.

The Twelve Brothers

The Twelve Brothers

King Vishnu Verman had twelve sons. He somehow hated all his sons and wanted only a daughter to rule after him. So he told his queen Latha that as soon as she a daughter was born to her, he will kill all his twelve sons. He also made 12 wells in his garden to throw his sons inside. Asoka was the last among the twelve sons. He was very nice kid and was a darling of his mother. One day, when he saw his mother crying, He asked, her, “Ma, why are you crying?” Queen Lata told that she was expecting to give birth to a girl and when a girl is born, Asoka and all his eleven elder brothers would be put in wells. Then Asoka told the queen that, “I along with my brothers w ill run away to the forest. From there daily I will be watching the palace. If a girl is born, you please fly a red flag on your palace. Then we will go deeper in to the forest and never come back. But if another boy is born, you fly a white flag and we will all come back.’ The queen agreed to Asoka’s plan. Asoka then told his eleven elder brothers about this. That night all of them ran away to the nearby forest. Daily Asoka would climb up a tall tree and look at the palace. One day he saw a red flag. Fearing that their father would kill all of them they all went much deeper in to the forest. There they found a pretty house of a magician. They started living there. Since Asoka was too young to go to hunting, he was made to stay at home and all the eleven elder brothers went for hunting. Their youngest sister was named as Lathika and she grew up in to a fine girl. One day she happened to see in a box, twelve boy’s shirts. She asked Queen Lata, “Mummy, whose dresses are these?” Then Queen Latha told her, “You actually have twelve elder brothers and they are living in the forest because they are afraid of your father.” That night when Queen Latha was asleep, Lathika escaped and went in search of her brothers. She reached the magician’s house only next day noon. Asoka saw her and asked her, “You are very pretty .You actually look like my sister. Can you tell me who you are?” Lathika then told him that she indeed was his sister. She also wanted to stay in the magician’s house along with them. But Asoka felt that his elder brother’s did not like Lathika. So after she cooked their meals, he asked her to hide in one of the bathrooms. When the eleven brothers came, that day, after eating food, they told Asoka,’ Today the food is very tasty? We are sure you have not cooked it. Please tell us who has cooked it” Then Asoka brought Lathika from her hiding. All the brothers liked their youngest sister. By this time Asoka has also grown big. So he also started going for hunting along with his brothers. There was a locked room in their house. One day Lathika became curious and opened it. She heard a voice from nowhere. ”You have opened the magician’s room. So your brothers will all become birds. Lathika cried a lot and asked the magician to pardon her. At last he told her, “You can get back your brothers, if you do not talk, cry and smile for seven years.” Lathika agreed to this condition. Times passed. Lathika was strictly following the words of the magician. One great king came for hunting in the forest and he saw Lathika. He wanted to marry her. But Lathika was not speaking. Then the king thought she was dumb. Then he asked her using signs whether she was willing to marry him. Lathika readily agreed and became the queen of that great king who liked her a lot. After some time a baby boy was born to them. The boy was very charming, One day the boy fell down and was hurt very badly. Seeing their little prince hurt all the people in the palace cried except the queen. Because of this the people started suspecting her. They went and told the king that, the queen was not a good one and should be punished. After a lot of thought the king agreed. He decided to again send her away to the forest. On that day, the seven years was completed. All Lathika’s brothers came back and told the king their story. Lathika was very happy and asked for the pardon of the king. After wards Lathika lived happily for several years. The twelve brothers returned to their hometown. Their father accepted them and made them kings of his country.

The lazy Meera

The lazy Meera

Meera was a very lazy girl. Her mother who was poor, wanted Meera to spin thread from cotton so that she can sell it in the market .But Meera was so lazy that she never did it. One-day Meera’s mother scolded her a lot. Then Meera started crying. At that time the queen of that kingdom Aiswarya , passed by the side of Meera’s house. Hearing Meera’s pitiable weeping she entered her house. She asked Meera’s mother, “Why is this girl crying?” Meera’s mother did not want to tell the truth. So she told, “This girl always wants to spin thread. Since I am poor , where will I go for so much cotton.” The Queen told Meera’s mother who she is and told her, “I will take this girl with me. I have lots of cotton.”
The queen took Meera to her house and showed her three big rooms of cotton. She told her, “I like you so much. Please spin all this cotton in to thread. Then I will make my eldest son marry you.”
Meera did not do anything for three days and kept on simply crying and staring at the cotton. On the third day, the queen came to enquire about what was happening. Meera told her, “Great Queen, I am terribly home-sick. I am always remembering my mother.” The queen consoled Meera and told her to continue spinning. Meera did not know what to do. She was staring out of the window. Then three old women, one who had a flat foot, another with hanging lips and another with a flat finger came towards her. Then they asked her why she was sad. Meera told about her problem. The three old women agreed to help her under one condition, “When you get married to the prince, you should invite us for your wedding. You should tell the queen that we are your aunts. Also you should eat in the same table with us.” Meera readily agreed.
The three old women immediately started the job. The woman with a flat foot, cleaned the cotton with her foot. The Woman with the hanging lip , wetted the cotton with her lips and made it like threads. The woman with a flat finger started spinning the thread with her fingers. Soon they completed spinning the entire cotton. Meera went and told Queen Aiswarya that the job was over. The queen became very happy and arranged for the marriage of Meera with her son. Meera invited those three old women and introduced them to the Queen and the prince as her aunts. She treated them very well and honoured them. They became very happy. When they took leave from the prince, he asked them, “Auntie why is it that the feet of one of you is flat, ones lip is hanging and another’s fingers are flat.” The old woman with flat foot replied, My feet are flat because of cleaning cotton. Her lip is hanging because of wetting the cotton and her finger is flat because she used to spin cotton in to thread.”
Then the prince decided that his wife Meera would not do any spinning because then she will become ugly. Meera lived very happily with the prince.

The golden bird

The golden bird

There was a king in Delhi. He was rich. In his garden there was a tree which yielded golden apples. He used to count all the golden apples daily. One day he found that one apple was missing. He wanted to find out, who stole the apple, He had three sons, Rama, Krishna and Govind. Rama told him that he would find out the thief.
That night he sat below the tree for catching the thief. After some time, he slept. Next day they found that one more golden apple was missing. Next night Krishna promised his father that he would catch the thief. That night he also sat below the apple tree. Unfortunately he also slept. Next day they found that one more apple was missing. Next day, it was the turn of Govind. His father told him, “I do not have any faith in you .You are too small.” That day Govind sat below the tree. He did not sleep at all. When it was 12 Clock at night, a golden bird suddenly flew from no where .It picked one apple and flew back. Govind shot an arrow at the bird. The arrow took out a feather of the bird, which fell down. Next day Govind told his father what happened and gave the feather. The feather was made of Gold. The ministers of the king told him, that the feather was very costly. They said, If we can catch the bird and keep it with us, we will be very lucky,” The king wanted the golden bird.
Rama agreed to bring the golden bird for his father and started his journey. When he came out of the town, there was a big forest. A fox with golden tail was seating in front of the forest. When Rama was about to shoot him, the fox told him, “Do not kill me. I will help you to get the golden bird. You go straight in this road. After some time on the road, two big hotels will come. One will be made of gold and the other will be full of dirt. You go and stay in the dirty hotel. Then I will help you.” Rama did not shoot the fox and went along the road. When he saw the two hotels, he felt that because he was a prince, he should not stay in a dirty hotel. He went and stayed in the golden hotel. Then he completely forgot about the golden bird. One month later when Rama did not come, Krishna started the search of the golden bird. He also met the fox with golden tail, which told the same words. He also left the fox and traveled. He also stayed in the golden hotel with Rama. He also forgot all about the golden bird. After one month Govind followed his brothers. But he followed the advice of the fox
Next day morning the fox came to Govind and told him, “You go straight by this road. Then you will come to a big house. This house will have ten watch men. They will all be sleeping. Enter the house. Inside you will find the golden bird in a wooden cage. Another golden cage also will be kept nearby. Bring the golden bird in the wooden cage and do not use the golden cage,” Govind agreed to this and followed the road and found out the house. As the fox had told, ten watchmen were sleeping. He entered the house and found the golden bird. But he felt bad that the golden bird should be in a wooden cage. So he tried to shift the golden bird in to the wooden cage. The bird shrieked and all the watchmen got up and caught hold of Govind. Next day they took him before their master. Their master told Govind, “I will give you the golden bird but you have to bring me the golden horse. “ Govind started blinking and started walking. The fox with the golden tail came before him and told him, “You did not obey me. That is why you are suffering. Now I will help you to get the golden horse. I will show you a road. Walk straight on that road. After some time you will see a silver palace. There would be hundred watchmen guarding the palace. All of them would be sleeping. Enter the silver palace and go to its stables. The golden horse will be there. But it would have a wooden saddle. Use that and come back. Please do not use the golden saddle, which would be kept nearby.” Govind agreed and followed the advice of the fox with golden tail. He came to the silver palace. One hundred watchmen were sleeping. He did not bother about them and went to he stable. When he was about to start, he suddenly removed the wooden saddle and put the golden saddle as he thought a golden horse should have a golden saddle. The horse started making big noise and all watchmen woke up. They caught Govind and took him before their king. After hearing the story of Govind, the king told him, “I will give you the golden horse but you should bring me the golden princess.” Govind agreed and started his search for the golden princess. The fox with the golden tail came again and told, “Govind you are a good boy. But you are not obeying me. This time I will show you a road. If you go straight by that road, a golden palace will come. This will have one thousand watchmen. All of them will be sleeping. You enter the palace and go to the princess’ room. And ask her, “Will you come with me?’ She will come but ask her to wear a cotton dress not the golden dress. Govind obeyed the fox and found the golden princess, She agreed to come with him. . When she was leaving, he felt bad that she was wearing the cotton dress. So he asked her to change to golden dress. Then she started shouting and all the watchmen woke up. They caught hold of Govind and took him before their king. That king after hearing the story of Govind told him, “In front of my house there is a iron mountain. I do not like it. If you remove the Iron Mountain with in seven days, I will give you the golden princes. Other wise, I will kill you.” Govind agreed. For the next 6 days, he could break only a small piece of the mountain. Then the fox again came before him and told, “Govind, you are a good boy. I will help you.” Then it simply waved its tail at the mountain. There was a big storm and the mountain disappeared. The king gave the golden princess to Govind.
Govind, the fox and the princess started towards the silver palace. The fox told Govind, “Tell the king that you will give him the golden princess but before that she should ride with you on the golden horse .He will agree. As soon as both of you are on the horse. Ride fast. Nobody can catch you.” Govind obeyed the fox and got to the big house of the golden bird safely along with the golden princess on a golden horse.” When Govind wanted to give the golden horse and get the golden bird, the fox told him, “Do not do that. Ask them to hand over the golden bird to you, when you both are on the golden horse. Then they will give it to you. As soon as you get the golden bird start riding fast.” Govind obeyed the fox and he got the golden bird also. When they reached near their home, the fox told Govind, “Please cut off my tail.” Govind hesitated a lot. Then he cut the tail of the fox. The fox became a prince. In fact he was the brother of the golden princess. All of them went to Govind’s house and lived forever happily

Sathya the liar

There was a girl caused Sathya in a poor but honest family. One day when her father took Sathya for a walk, The goddess Indu came near them in person. She asked Sathya’s father, ”would you give Sathya to me. I want to bring her up in heaven.”
Sathya’s father was extremely glad and sent Sathya along with goddess Indu The goddess took her to her palace in Vaikunta. She looked after her well. Taught her everything. Gave her everything she wanted but she also punished her when she committed mistakes.

You can go to any room but not to Room no.1. “ Sathya opened all the rooms except Room no.1. Along with her the servants of Goddess Indu also were there. Then Sathya wanted to open Room no.1. All the servants cried and asked her not to open the room. But she was adamant. When she was about to open the room, they all ran away. The goddess told Sathya, “You have lied to me twice and so you cannot remain in heaven. Not only that, now you will not be able to speak.” Saying like this Goddess Indu, pushed Sathya from heavens. Sathya fell down in a deep forest. She started crying and try to go out. But in spite of all her efforts, she was not able to go out. Times passed. Otherwise I will take your son.” But Sathya was very adamant. She shouted,” I only told the truth. The goddess took her son away. Next day morning, the King Dharma saw that his son has vanished. This made him believe that Queen Sathya was indeed a devil. So he decided to hang Queen Sathya. The queen started crying. No body bothered. At that time, Goddess Indu came again and asked Sathya, “Are you willing the truth now.” Sathya fell at the feet of the Goddess and told, “Goddess Indu, pardon me. I have always been telling a lie to you .I am so sorry that I have been telling lies to you. I had gone and opened Room No.1, during your absence”.
The Goddess became pleased with Sathya and told her, “Good, I only wanted you to tell me the truth and be sad.” Saying this the Goddess returned both babies of Sathya and gave her back her speech.
Queen Sathya and King Dharma lived very happily always telling the truth.

Samudra Guptha the scholar king

Samudra Guptha the scholar king

Once upon a time near the present day Ujjain lived a brahmin called Samudra Guptha. Right from the time he started learning, he was thirsty for knowledge. He went to places like Benares, Nalanda , Kanchi which were having great colleges . But still he wanted to learn more. One great sage told him, that only a Brhama Rakshas sitting on the tallest banyan tree of Dandaka forest had more knowledge than him.
Samudra Guptha started wandering all over Dandaka forest to meet this Brahma Rakshas, One day he located the tallest banyan tree. He also saw the Brahma Rakshas sitting on the top of the tree. He went near him and saluted him, Then he asked him, “Sir, I have spent all my life learning. But a sage told that you know more than me. Can you please teach, what all you know to me.”
The Brahma Rakshas which was horrible to look at laughed loudly and told him, “Whatever you have learnt will not be even a small part of what I know. It will take 12 years , day and night to teach , all that I know to you. But I have a condition. You should neither eat food nor sleep during those 12 years.”
Samudra Guptha told the Brahma Rakshas, “Sir, I am willing to do it. But suppose I do not take food nor sleep I will die.” Then the Brahma Rakshas told Samudra Guptha, “ I will give you a boon so that for the next twelve years you will neither be hungry nor get sleep. But on the day, you complete your studies, the hunger of all the twelve years and the sleep of all the 12 years will come to you. Possibly you may die because of that.”
Samudhra Guptha agreed to that condition. The Brahma Rakshas used to write a lesson on a banyan leaf and drop it down. Once he understood the lesson, Samudra Guptha will shake his head. The next lesson will follow. Twelve long years passed. Brahma Rakshas told Samudhra Guptha, “Now you can go .You have learned everything I know. But as soon as you cross the near by river, the hunger and sleep of the twelve years will come back to you.”
Samudhra Guptha, bundled up all the lessons of the twelve years, saluted the Brahma Rakshas and crossed the river. As soon as he reached the other shore, all the flesh in his body disappeared. He became a bundle of bones. A lady who was the daughter of a rich merchant was taking bath in the river. She saw Samudra Guptha. So she took him home and sent word to a great doctor. After examining the great doctor told her to keep on constantly massaging him with cooked rice for a month. This treatment worked and Samudra Guptha regained consciousness. He thanked the lady and started to go his way. The lady took him to the king and complained, ‘Sir, this great scholar would have died but for me. I would like to marry him.” The king then heard from Samudra Guptha his story. Then he ordered Samudra Guptha not only to marry the lady who saved her but also his daughter, his teacher’s daughter and his minister’s daughter. He also gave Samudra Guptha his kingdom as he did not have sons.

Rama the good

Rama the good

There was a Great King Called Chandra Sena. He had a very intelligent and sincere servant called Rama. Daily after the king finished his dinner and before he slept, Rama had to take him a dish covered by a golden cloth. Rama did not know what it contained. One day by chance he opened the dish. To his surprise he saw a pink Banana. He split the Banana and ate a small portion .It was very tasty. When he was nearing the King’s room, he heard the pet dog of the king telling the pet cat of the king, “This boy is foolish. If the king knows that he has eaten his Banana he will kill him.” Suddenly Rama understood that he was able to understand the language of animals. He rushed to the kitchen and told the cook, “Sorry I dropped the dish on the way to king’s room. Please give me another dish to carry to the king. The cook readily agreed and thus Rama was saved.
After a few days, the queen lost her diamond ring. She suspected that Rama has taken it. Rama was arrested. When Rama was in the jail, he heard one lizard talking to another, “Today I went to the queen’s room and swallowed some shiny thing.” Rama guessed that it might have been the queen’s ring. He caught hold of the lizard and before the police, he cut it open. Inside the ring was found. The king and Queen were really sorry that they have troubled Rama. They said, “We are sorry. You ask from us anything you want. We will give it.” Rama asked from them a good horse, some money and a sword. They gave it to him willingly
Rama left the city riding on the horse. While riding he saw three fishes which were caught in the net. They were struggling. One of them told the other, “No body understands our pain and sorrow.” Rama immediately got down from the horse and set them free. One of the fishes told him, “ I am the king of the fishes and I will definitely help you later.”
Rama rode further. Suddenly he heard two ants talking with each other. “A big man is riding a horse. He will kill us.” Rama immediately stopped the horse and saved the ants. Then one of the ants told him, “I am the king of the ants and I will definitely help you when time comes.”
Rama still rode further. He saw three baby eagles lying below a tree and their mother bird was crying. The mother was telling the baby, “ If somebody takes you from the ground and put you back in the nest a, all of you will be saved.” Rama heard this and immediately replaced the baby eagles in their nest. Then one of the baby eagles told, “I am the son of the king of eagles. I will definitely help you in proper time.”
After several months Rama reached a big city. There every body was so nice to him .He liked the city and started living there. This city had a very pretty princes. She told the king that she would marry only that man who will pass in her test. If he fails, he should be killed. Many people came and were not able to pass. They all died. Rama wanted to try to marry the princess. So he went to the king and told him, “Sir, I would like to marry the princess.”
The king and princess took Rama near the sea. The princess took her ring and threw in the sea. She told, “You find out my ring and bring to me in a day. Otherwise you would be killed.”
After they let, Rama did not know what to do and started crying. Suddenly one big fish swam and came near him. It told, “Hey Rama, don’t you remember me, I was the king fish, whom you saved, I got the ring that the princess put in the sea for you.” Rama took the ring and returned it to the king. But the princess wanted to test Rama further. She threw 10 bags of rice on a lawn and told him, “Collect back all this rice and put it in the bags, by tomorrow morning.” Rama did not know what to do. He cried a lot and slept. When he woke up next morning, he saw that all the rice has been collected and put back in the ten bags. A big ant came to him and told, “Don’t you remember me. I am the king of ants. Yesterday night I came here with millions of my people and did this job very easily.” Rama thanked the ant and went and told the princess that he has completed this job also.
The princess became very angry. She told Rama, “I am not still not satisfied .Go and bring the golden mango of the city of Paradise within a day.” Rama did not know what to do. City of paradise was very, very far off. And the tree of the golden mango belonged to a Rakshasa. Anyway Rama started walking towards the city of paradise. That night he slept below a tree, crying a lot. In the morning a big eagle, which gave him the golden mango woke him up , and told, “Don’t you remember me. I am now the king of eagles. I yesterday flew to the city of Paradise and got this fruit for you.” Rama thanked the bird and gave the golden mango to the princess.
The princess understood that though poor, Rama was a great man. She married him. Later Rama became the king of that big city and lived happily.
