Diet Regimen for Teens

Beauty Tips for Teens

Diet Regimen for Teens

If there is a teenager in the house you will know how difficult it exactly is to get him/her on a healthy diet! On the other hand, the body requires essential nutrients in the teen years because it still has a lot of growing up to do. Since it is very unlikely that a teenage boy or girl will choose to eat only healthy food throughout the day, you can make a routine for them to follow in order to encourage healthy eating habits. Listed below are some tips for a proper diet regimen for teenagers:

  • Breakfast is a Must – In order to prepare your body with energy to survive the day, a heavy breakfast is a must. Fruits or fruit juices are a must. Proteins in the form of nuts are essential and so is one form of complex carbohydrate.
  • Cook a Healthy Dinner – At night, eat light and try to eat together. Lean protein, whole grains, at least two vegetables and a fruit based dessert are perfect for a teen.
  • Fast Food is Necessary too – Unlike the popular belief that consumption of fast food makes you fat and unhealthy, we feel that dining out at a fast food joint should be made compulsory at least twice a month for a teenager. This will lead to a change of taste and hence keep the teen interested in healthy food.
  • Avoid Processed Food – Food that is stored in jars, cans, boxes or other packages should be consumed as less as possible. Processed food has a high percentage of preservatives and sugar that is harmful for a teen’s health.
  • Binge on Healthy Snacks – Eating in small proportions is important for a teenager. But it is also advisable that he/she eats many times throughout the day. Here is where snacking options come into play. Instead of bingeing on fried food, opt for sandwiches or popcorn. Include lean meat and a variety of vegetables in the sandwich. You can sauté popcorn in butter for taste.
  • Don’t Forget your Water Intake – Staying hydrated means staying healthy. As teenagers, the body is subjected to stress and strain through studying or playing sports. But even if you are sitting idle at home, it is important to drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday. Hydration also ensures proper metabolism.
