How To Stay Cool in Summer
With the weather in the city turning hot and sultry, it is a good time to increase your intake of fluids and take special precautions if spending long hours outdoors.
To keep our body cool, we cannot always depend upon fans, coolers. To remove the heat from our body, it is very important to use some natural things. There are various food items which keep our body cool as well as provide nutrition to our body.The following foods work to help your body regulate its temperature and keep you cooler: mushrooms, citrus fruit, lemon balm, and mint. Spicy foods can also help by causing you to sweat more. As the sweat evaporates, it cools you down. Snacking on frozen melon cubes or berries is also smart way to cool down.
Wear light-weight, loose cotton clothing, cotton is a fabric that “breathes” and also absorbs moisture from perspiration. Avoid heavy shoes and socks, opting for sandals instead. Dress in light weight and light colored clothing such as a smart looking T-shirt.
Keeping yourself well-hydrated throughout the day is important. Don’t wait until you feel thirsty, keep sipping on liquids in between. For those who indulge in rigorous outdoor exercises, taking a water break every twenty minutes is essential.
As the temperatures rises; our body works overtime to stay cool. Avoid outdoor activities during mid-day, when the sun’s rays are strongest. Schedule sports and other outdoor events during the cooler times of the day to reduce the risk of getting a heat related illness such as heat exhaustion.
Juices of grapes, watermelon, orange, mosambi, banana, and pineapple should be taken. The preparations of sugar, barley/green gram buttermilk with sugar candy can be consumed to cool the body. Use tulsi seeds in our drinks this has a very cooling effect on the body.
