Makeup Colors according to Every Skin Type
Skin can broadly be divided into three basic types: oily skin, dry skin and normal skin. Again, most people may not have the same type of skin on every part of the body. For instance, the skin quality on the face is usually different from the skin quality of the feet and hands. Here we take a look at the makeup colors that you should use for particular skin types.

Makeup Colors for Dry Skin
Dry skin is sometimes visibly wrinkled and shows the presence of white flakes. The idea is to use such makeup colors that will effectively cover these flaws.

  • Use neutral shades of foundation. A shade that matches your skin tone is recommended; else opt for the natural color.
  • Use blushers in shades of pink or peach. To get the bold look, you can opt for golden color during the evenings.
  • The eye shadow must match the blusher.
Makeup Colors for Oily Skin
Oily skin shines due to the layer of moisture and oil that cover the skin. The idea is to use such colors that will help to reduce the shine and give a matte look to the skin.

  • Opt for dark colors for eye makeup. Try to stick to black or dark brown shades of eye liners. The eye shadow must also be in shades of dark copper, blackish blue or dark silver.
  • The foundation, compact and face powder must, however, be in light shades like light brown, beige or neutral.
  • You can experiment with light and dark shades of lipstick. But avoid the use of lip glosses that will lend extra shine to the oily skin. The recommended shades of lip color are brown and pink.
Makeup Colors for Normal Skin
It is easy for women with normal skin to experiment with makeup colors as the near perfect skin texture supports flaunting any color.

  • Opt for darker shades of makeup if your skin feels oily during the monsoons and summer.
  • Use light colors on the face if you feel that the summer sun is draining moisture and drying your skin.
Celebrity Face Makeup Tips and Tricks
Ever wondered how our favorite actors and models always manage to look their best despite the stressful life they lead? It is because of their style of applying makeup! Here are some tips and tricks from the celebrities’ makeup kits to help you look your best! All you need is a little bit of inspiration and creativity and lots of practice!

For naturally plump lips – Makeup artist Matthew Van Leeuwen, personal stylist to Hollywood beauty Scarlett Johansson, says that a wet wash must be used to exfoliate lips regularly. Rub the cloth in horizontal strokes on the lips. The increase in blood circulation in the lip area plumps them up. Don’t forget to apply gloss above lipstick.
For a natural flush on the cheeks – Nick Barose, makeup artist of actress Mischa Barton, says that the trick is to apply a sheer liquid foundation over a cream blush and blend well. Make sure that the blush has either pink or red overtones. The appearance is such that you feel that blood is rushing to the cheeks.
For naturally glowing eyes – Makeup artist Leslie Lopez advises that smoky eyes, more often than not, do not suit girls with a fair complexion. While styling actor Kate Hudson, Lopez makes sure that only light shades are used on the eye. She outlines the actor’s eyes using a grey color pencil and fills in with pale golden or light peach eye shadow. If the eye makeup is subtle, it looks sexier, says Leslie Lopez.
How to make thick brows appear thin – Like we all know, thick eyebrows do not complement a woman’s looks. But if you have naturally thick brows, opt for proper makeup rather than threading to fix the problem. Jeanine Lobell, the personal makeup artist of actor Natalie Portman says to apply very less color on the brow region of the face. Choose a very light shade of eye shadow like soft brown and apply in short strokes starting from the inner corner of the eye and extending to the natural end of the eyes’ arch. Repeat the process using another light color shadow like pale peach. Blend the two colors using the ring finger. The result is brow bones which are not pronounced but natural looking.
For the best bronzer – Taking a cue from actor Charlize Theron’s makeup style, it is recommended that you use a bronzer that matches your skin tone, so that you have a natural sun kissed glow on the face post application. Avoid bronzers which leave an orange tint on the facial skin.
